Privacy Policy

SankofaLearn (www.sankofalearn.com) is run by Ngongnang Lawrence, Cameroon. For any question about your information, write to support@sankofalearn.com.

• Your account: name, email address and password (the password is stored encrypted; we can never read it).
• Your learning profile: your level and the subjects you chose.
• What you do in the app: books you open, Sparks you watch, saves, “Got it” taps, challenge answers, follows and the groups you join.
• What you post: questions, answers, discussions and the photos you add to them.
• Teachers: the teacher page, books, Sparks, past papers and other content they publish.
• Visitors without an account: a random number kept on the phone, only to count views once a day. It has no name in it.

We do not collect your location, your contacts or your phone number. Payments, when they start, are handled by the payment provider: we never see or store your Mobile Money PIN.

• To run your account and show you lessons for your level.
• To let teachers answer your questions and see how many learners their lessons reach (numbers only).
• To keep the community safe: the review team can check reports and remove harmful content.
• To protect content: pages and downloads carry a small reader ID (like SL-AB12CD), never your name.

Many of our learners are under 18. We protect them in these ways:

• Learners appear to others by their first name only.
• A learner's photos on a question stay private unless the learner chooses to share them.
• Only teachers can create class groups, and only the teacher and the review team see a group's member list.
• Posts with phone numbers, addresses or other private contacts are not allowed and are removed.
• Learners under 13 should use SankofaLearn with a parent's or teacher's permission.

A parent or guardian can ask us to see or delete a child's account at support@sankofalearn.com.

Other members see only what you post, with your first name (learners) or teacher name (teachers). The review team can see what it needs to keep the app safe.

To run the app we use trusted services, which store data for us under their own security rules:

• Supabase: accounts, the database and files (books, past papers, photos).
• Vercel: hosting of the website.
• Cloudinary: videos and images of Sparks.

These services may keep data on servers outside Cameroon. We share information with authorities only when the law requires it.

We keep your information while your account is open. Daily view records are kept for about 30 days, then only totals remain. When your account is deleted, your profile and private data are removed; we may keep a short record of team safety actions as required to protect users.

• Change your name, level and subjects in Me.
• Delete your own questions, answers and posts at any time.
• Ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it.
• Delete your account (see below).

Go to Delete my account or write to support@sankofalearn.com. We delete the account and its personal data within 30 days.

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Books, past papers and photos are kept in private storage and only shown to people allowed to see them. No system is perfect: if we learn of a problem that affects you, we will tell you.

If we change this policy, we update the date above and tell you in the app when the change is important.
